Megan Corrieri

MS, LPC, NCC — Licensed Professional Counselor

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) based in Frisco, Texas. I hold a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from St. Cloud State University, and I've been practicing as a therapist since 2006 — working with individuals, couples, and families across a wide range of concerns.

At NorthStar Counseling & Therapy, I specialize in couples counseling, marriage counseling, and relationship therapy — helping partners navigate the real, often uncomfortable work of understanding each other and building something stronger.

My practice is telehealth-only. All sessions happen through secure video, which means I work with clients across the Dallas-Fort Worth area and throughout the state of Texas. There is no physical office — just focused, private time together from wherever you're comfortable.

I got into this work because relationships are where most of us feel our deepest joy and our sharpest pain. When the relationship you count on most is struggling, it colors everything. My job is to help you see what's actually happening between you — the patterns, the unspoken needs, the ways you've learned to protect yourselves — so you can decide how to move forward with clarity instead of reactivity.

My Approach

I believe that couples therapy works best when it's direct, compassionate, and grounded in what's actually happening between you — not what a textbook says should be happening. I'm here to help you see the patterns you've fallen into — the ways you disconnect, defend, or inadvertently hurt each other — and to build new ways of showing up together.

My approach is research-informed, drawing on what we know about how relationships heal and grow. But it's also deeply practical. I'm not interested in overcomplicated frameworks or giving you homework that doesn't connect to your real life. We focus on real conversations, real understanding, and real shifts you can feel in your day-to-day relationship.

In session, I'm warm but I'm also direct. I'll gently challenge both of you when I see patterns playing out in real time. I'll point out what I notice. I'll ask the questions that are hard to ask yourselves. And I'll make sure both of you feel heard — even when what you're saying is difficult for your partner to hear.

Whether you're navigating the aftermath of a betrayal, working to rebuild emotional intimacy, figuring out if you want to stay together, or preparing for marriage — I'm here to support that work with honesty and respect for where you both are right now.

Credentials & Training

I earned my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling from St. Cloud State University in 2009 and received my National Counselor Certification the same year. I've been a practicing therapist since 2006, beginning my career working with underserved communities through nonprofit and charitable organizations before joining CORE Professional Services, where I worked as a full-time therapist specializing in individual and group therapy.

I'm licensed as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the State of Texas and hold my Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) credential through the National Board for Certified Counselors, which reflects ongoing adherence to professional standards and continuing education. I relocated to Frisco, Texas in 2019 and founded NorthStar Counseling & Therapy to serve the DFW community and beyond. In 2022, Living Magazine recognized NorthStar Counseling & Therapy as a premier mental health clinic in Frisco.

My clinical focus is couples and relationship counseling — helping partners understand each other more deeply, repair what's been damaged, and build the kind of connection they actually want. I continue to invest in professional development and stay engaged with current research on how relationships function, break down, and heal.

I practice with accountability to both professional standards and to the people I work with. Your privacy, confidentiality, and well-being are at the center of everything I do. As a private-pay practice, your therapy records stay between us — they are not shared with insurance companies, which gives you an extra layer of protection over your personal information.

Why I Practice Through Telehealth Only

I chose to build a telehealth-only practice for a reason. For couples, getting to therapy can be one of the biggest barriers to actually doing the work. Between coordinating two schedules, commuting across Frisco or the DFW area, finding parking, and sitting in a waiting room — by the time you're both in the room, you're already drained. Telehealth removes all of that friction.

With secure video sessions, you can connect from home, from a private space at work, or wherever feels comfortable. Couples often tell me that being in their own environment actually helps them open up more than a clinical office would. And practically speaking, it means scheduling is simpler — especially when both partners have demanding work schedules or young children at home.

Because my practice is telehealth-only, I'm able to work with clients anywhere in Texas — not just the Frisco and DFW area. If you're in Plano, Prosper, McKinney, or Austin, San Antonio, Houston, or anywhere else in the state, we can work together. Geography doesn't have to be the reason you don't get the support you need.

Payment & Privacy

NorthStar Counseling & Therapy is a private-pay practice. I do not bill insurance directly. Standard sessions are $200 for 60 minutes or $300 for 90 minutes, with an initial intake and assessment at $250. I believe in being upfront about cost so there are no surprises.

Many clients use HSA or FSA funds for therapy. If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a superbill — a detailed receipt you submit to your insurance company to check on potential reimbursement. I'm happy to walk you through how that works.

One of the reasons many people choose a private-pay therapist is privacy. When insurance isn't involved, your clinical records, session notes, and even the fact that you're in therapy stay between us. No diagnosis is required for billing, and no information is shared with a third party. For many couples, especially those dealing with sensitive issues like infidelity or considering divorce, that level of confidentiality matters.
