NorthStar Counseling & Therapy

Telehealth Counseling Across Texas

Secure, confidential couples and relationship therapy from wherever you are. Based in Frisco, serving DFW and all of Texas.

Why Telehealth Works for Couples in DFW

If you live in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, you already know that getting anywhere takes time. Traffic on the DNT, 380, or 75 can turn a simple errand into an ordeal — and that's before you factor in coordinating two people's schedules for a therapy appointment.

That's one of the reasons I built NorthStar Counseling & Therapy as a telehealth-only practice. All sessions happen through secure, HIPAA-compliant video. There's no physical office to visit. You connect from your living room, your home office, or wherever feels private and comfortable.

For couples, this matters more than you might think. When therapy doesn't require a 45-minute round trip, you're more likely to keep showing up consistently. And consistency is what makes therapy work. You're also more likely to attend together, because both partners don't have to leave work early or arrange childcare just to be in the same room.

Telehealth isn't a compromise. For many couples, it's actually a better fit — especially when life in North Texas is already busy enough.

Serving Frisco and Surrounding Communities

NorthStar Counseling & Therapy is based in Frisco, Texas, and many of my clients live in the communities that surround it — Plano, Prosper, McKinney, Celina, Little Elm, Allen, and The Colony. These are growing, family-oriented communities where people are building careers, raising children, and managing the kind of busy, demanding life that can quietly erode the connection between partners.

What I hear from couples across these communities is similar: life got busy, and somewhere along the way, the relationship started running on autopilot. You're managing logistics together — kids, schedules, finances — but the emotional connection that makes a relationship feel meaningful has faded into the background. Or maybe there's been a specific breaking point — an affair, a major disagreement about the future, a pattern of arguments that never resolve.

Wherever you are in North Texas, telehealth means you don't have to drive across town to get help. You can access couples counseling, marriage counseling, affair recovery, or any of my other counseling services from wherever is most convenient.

Licensed to Serve Clients Across Texas

As a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas, I'm able to provide therapy to anyone located in Texas at the time of our session. While many of my clients are in the DFW metroplex, I also work with couples and individuals in Austin, San Antonio, Houston, El Paso, and everywhere in between.

This is especially helpful for couples in areas where there may be fewer therapists who specialize in relationship work, or where finding someone you feel comfortable with has been difficult. Telehealth means your options aren't limited by geography — you can choose a therapist based on fit, not just proximity.

It also works well for couples where one partner has relocated for work or where partners are temporarily living in different parts of the state. Both of you can join the session from separate locations and still do the work together.

How Telehealth Sessions Work

Sessions take place through a secure, encrypted video platform — similar to a video call, but built for healthcare privacy. You'll receive a link before each session, click to join at your scheduled time, and we'll work together just as we would in a traditional office setting. The platform is HIPAA-compliant, which means your sessions and any information shared are protected.

All you need is a reliable internet connection, a device with a camera and microphone (a laptop, tablet, or phone works), and a private space where you won't be interrupted. Many couples set up in their bedroom, home office, or even their car parked in the driveway — whatever gives you the privacy to be open and honest.

Sessions are typically 50 to 60 minutes. Most couples start weekly, then adjust the frequency as things progress. You can read more about what to expect on the FAQs page, or reach out directly with any questions.

A Private-Pay Practice

NorthStar Counseling & Therapy is a private-pay practice. I do not bill insurance directly. This is intentional — it allows me to focus entirely on your care without the limitations, required diagnoses, or session caps that often come with insurance-based therapy.

Standard sessions are $200 for 60 minutes or $300 for 90 minutes. Many clients use HSA or FSA funds to cover sessions. If your insurance plan includes out-of-network mental health benefits, I can provide a superbill that you submit to your insurer to check on potential reimbursement.

For many couples, paying privately is a deliberate choice. It means your therapy records — including session notes, any topics discussed, and even the fact that you're in therapy — are not shared with an insurance company. That privacy matters, especially when you're working through something deeply personal.
